

On Tuesday, February 18th, 2014, His Excellency the Right Honorable David Johnston, Governor General and Commander-in-Chief of Canada, presented 35 Meritorious Service Decorations (Military Division) to members of Canadian Armed Forces and allied forces, military servicemen and women whose specific achievements have brought honor to the Canadian Armed Forces and to Canada.
Among the 35 recipients were two American officers: U.S. Air Force Brigadier General Jack Briggs and U.S. Army Colonel Norman Litterini.
Air Force Brigadier General Briggs was honored with the Meritorious Service Medal for his service as the Deputy Commander of 1st Canadian Air Division in Winnipeg from July 2011 until October of 2013. General Briggs is currently the Vice Commander of 1st Air Force at Tyndall Air Force Base, Florida.
U.S. Army Colonel Norman Litterini for his performance as Deputy Chief of Staff for the Canadian Expeditionary Force Command and subsequently, the Canadian Joint Operations Command from July 2011 until June 2013. Colonel Litterini is currently the Senior Military Advisor to the Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs at Headquarters, US Department of State.
Military members of the United States and Canada have one of the longest and deepest histories of serving together throughout the world. Part of that enduring relationship is to recognize members of each other’s country through military honors and decorations as events and accomplishments dictate. Mission Canada is proud to extend hearty congratulations to both general Briggs and Colonel Litterini for their exemplary service to the United States, Canada and the continuing relationship between the two countries.
