Members of the United States Marines Corps Detachment from the U.S. Embassy in Ottawa were thrilled to visit the Ronald McDonald House in Ottawa today to present a donation of $340 raised from the U.S. Embassy employee association’s annual charity golf tournament. The Marines received a tour of the beautiful home where up to 14 families can stay while their children receive treatment from the nearby children’s hospital.
The Ronald McDonald House intends to use the donation to kick-start its “go-bag” program — an initiative that will provide busy families with useful items and treats once a week as they leave the home.
For the last 10 years, the Marine Security Guard Detachment at the U.S. Embassy in Ottawa have worked with the Ronald McDonald House to organize the annual Toys for Tots campaign, which brings hundreds of donated gifts to children who are staying at the home. The Marines look forward to running the campaign once again in this year’s holiday season!
