U.S. embassies and consulates can assist citizens with numerous activities. Some of the services we offer include:
- Issuing passports;
- Notarizing documents (note: citizens of any country may register for notarial services);
- Assisting with Social Security or taxpayer identification applications; and
- Registering the birth of U.S. citizen children born abroad.
Most services are offered for a fee. Fees for State Department services occasionally change. For the most up-to-date information, please visit the State Department website for information on fees for passports and all other consular services.
To make an appointment for a U.S. Citizen service at the embassy or consulate nearest you, please visit the State Department website. If you would like to schedule an appointment for a visa interview, please click here.
Note: Individuals desiring to renounce or relinquish their U.S. Citizenship should not make an appointment through this system. For information on how to schedule an appointment for that service, please visit the Loss of Nationality section.
