Toronto Speakers Bureau Presents at Humberview Secondary School

Vice Consul Shannon Petry spoke to a American History class of Grade 11 students at Humberview Secondary School in Bolton, Ontario on April 18, 2016 as part of Toronto’s Speakers Bureau Program. Humberview, part of the Peel School District, is a regional school, with students attending the gifted and talented, french immersion, vocational, and advanced placement programs. Humberview’s mission is to be an open community of learners building success together through education. Students are welcomed into an inclusive learning environment that is created by a commitment to integrity, co-operation and respect. After her presentation focused on diplomacy and diplomatic history, Petry received a lot of questions from students on Cuba, on the U.S. elections, Brazil, living in Canada, and the role of Canada in international relations. The students also focused their questions on Petry’s opinion about certain cultural aspects of Canada — a different line of focus than other audiences participating in this program.
