Toronto Hosts U.S. and Canadian Academic Institutions Cross-border Collaboration Meeting

On June 23rd, the U.S. Consulate General in Toronto organized a day-long collaboration meeting for 40 U.S. and Canada academic representatives. The event was hosted by McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario. The idea for this meeting was developed in partnership with Scott Clerk (University of Ontario Institute of Technology) and Ni Jadon (McMaster University) who is also a Department of State exchange alumni and an active participant of the Consulate-led academic working group. The day-long meeting commenced with a welcome by McMaster University President Patrick Deane who formally introduced Consul General Juan Alsace as the host of the meeting. After the Consul General’s welcoming remarks, the day unfolded with four sessions, each focused on a different internationalization theme: 1) increasing cross-border collaboration, 2) generating long term engagement, 3) improving undergraduate and graduate student mobility, and 4) creating opportunities beyond the institution.
