Toronto Consulate Supports 1st Canadian Human Trafficking Survivors Summit

On May 4, the U.S. Consulate Toronto representatives attended the 1st Canadian Human Trafficking Survivors Summit organized by The Canadian Centre to End Human Trafficking and supported through the U.S. Mission to Canada’s Public Affairs Grants Program. The goal of the day-long Summit was to bring together community organizations, engage front-line agencies, public sector policy makers and those who work in the private sector and who are all working towards the shared goal of combating human trafficking. The event featured many panels throughout the day, including Evelyn Chumbow of the United States Advisory Council on Human Trafficking, Washington, D.C.; Lara Powers, Survivor Engagement Adviser, Polaris, Washington, D.C.; and Vanessa Chauhan, Strategic Relationship & Engagement Adviser, National Hotlines, Polaris Project, Washington, D.C.
