Toronto Consulate Hosts 2016 United States Election Watch Event

The U.S. Consulate General in Toronto hosted an evening watch event for the 2016 United States Presidential Election on Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at Artscape’s Daniel Spectrum, a community and cultural hub. United States Consul General Juan Alsace and other consulate staff were joined by local officials such as the Premier of Ontario, Kathleen Wynne, invited guests as well as media representatives from CP24, Toronto Star, Global News, Toronto Sun, CityNews, East York Observer and Toronto Observer, Spoke TV, Ryersonian, Newstalk 1010, and CKTV to watch the election results.

“American democratic process is one of the most transparent and fair in the world. Throughout the past month, the American people have voted by absentee ballot, others voted early, and some went to the polls today to decide who the next President will be”, said Consul General Juan Alsace during his remarks. “All of my colleagues – at the Consulate and the Embassy – look forward to working with the President elect and his or her team to ensure a seamless transition, something that the State Department has done with each new President for well over 200 years.”
