Toronto Consular Section Assists Homeless Veteran

On February 26, Vice-Consul Shannon Petry was interviewed by Time Warner Cable News of Buffalo, New York about her role in assisting a homeless veteran found stranded in Toronto. The television news piece reported that the United States Consulate in Toronto pitched in by purchasing Ballenger’s bus ticket and getting him a hotel room for a night.

“We have a team of people here, three or four people, who specialize in assisting American citizens who need assistance like this,” said Vice-Consul Petry. “One of them is himself a veteran so he has a special understanding of the background of Mr. Ballenger’s case.”
