The young participants of the Technovation Challenge in Montreal recently presented their mobile application projects to a jury composed of Vanessa Cherenfant, Vice President of the Jeune Chambre de Commerce de Montréal, Peter Szilagyi from the International Startup Festival and Amine Ben Ayed of Mtl NewTech. The jury selected three teams to present at the International Startup Festival in July, and two teams to present at Montreal NewTech’s Tourism and Startups pitch event on May 25.
Team Orange You Tech from the Trafalgar School for Girls was awarded the third place for their application “Food Friend” which aims to encourage healthy eating among youth. In second place was team Kids Code Jeunesse for their “Team Pool” application, designed to facilitate carpooling to after-school activities for parents and kids. Team Wild Minds was selected as the top Montreal team, and was also selected among the top 50 projects worldwide by the international Technovation Challenge Jury. The team, comprised of three grade nine girls from The Study, developed an app called “GoVo” which incentivizes youth to get involved in their communities through volunteering initiatives.
Congratulations to all of the girls for completing this intensive 12-week challenge and thanks to the mentors, coaches, and volunteers for their precious support. If you were not able to attend the Montreal NewTech pitches on May 25, be sure to catch the pitches during Family Day at the International Startup Festival on July 18.
