On March 27, 2015, Consul General Kujawinski and Maureen McLaughlin, Senior Advisor to the Secretary and Director of International Affairs for the U.S Department of Education, visited Glenbow Elementary School in Cochrane, Alberta to learn more about collaborative school leadership and hands-on student learning. This school creates many unique educational opportunities for their students including environmental stewardship activities and indigenous cultural programming.
During their time at Glenbow Elementary Ms. McLaughlin and Consul General Kujawinski enjoyed traditional rosehip tea and bannock prepared by the students in the Roots & Wings aboriginal program and viewed environmental films created by the grade four students.
Teaching and leading is a high priority for the U.S. Department of Education and this school visit offered a wonderful opportunity to discuss what educational success looks like in the U.S. and Canada.
