Statement by Chargé d’Affaires Aubin on Canadian assistance to Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands

We are grateful to the Government of Canada for its continued support to the people of Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands following Hurricane Maria.  Recognizing the water and resource needs following the hurricane, we appreciate Canada’s contribution of much needed supplies, including over 30,000 meals ready to eat, and logistical support from the Royal Canadian Air Force. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and Public Safety Canada continue to be in close coordination to provide unprecedented levels of support to those affected by the hurricane.

This is yet another example of the long history of the United States and Canada supporting each other in times of need.  We thank both the Government and people of Canada for their generous support.
