Statement by Chargé d’Affaires Richard Mills on U.S.-Canada Cooperation on COVID-19
“The United States appreciates Canada’s close and constant cooperation regarding the management of the border during this unprecedented crisis. The current travel restrictions maintain the flow of essential workers and commerce between our two countries while protecting our citizens through the reduction in non-essential travel. The United States and Canada continue to work together to ensure the viability of international supply chains for crucial medical supplies, as demonstrated by Canada’s exemption from FEMA’s final temporary rule implementing the Defense Production Act. We are also grateful to the Canadian government for their help repatriating U.S. citizens, and proud to have assisted with the repatriation of many Canadians.”
