U.S. Ambassador to Canada Bruce A. Heyman issued the following statement regarding the murder of John Ridsdel:
“The United States condemns the murder of Canadian citizen John Ridsdel, who was taken hostage by a terrorist group in the Philippines in September 2015. We stand with our Canadian allies to counter global terrorism and to ensure that those responsible face justice. On behalf of the United States government and the people of the United States, I would like to express my sincere condolences to Mr. Ridsdel’s family and loved ones, and to the Canadian people.”
