The U.S. Consulate General informs U.S. citizens an anti-U.S. Government demonstration is expected to take place in downtown Montreal on Saturday January 28, between 12:00 and 14:00.
The protesters are reportedly intending to gather at Normand-Bethune Square (Maisonneuve et Guy). Local police are expecting between 20 and 50 demonstrators. The route the protestors will take is unknown to police at this time.
Even demonstrations intended to be peaceful can turn confrontational and escalate into violence. You should avoid areas of demonstrations, and exercise caution if in the vicinity of any large gatherings, protests, or demonstrations.
