Statement/news release header image

The U.S. Embassy in Ottawa informs U.S. citizens that the City of Ottawa has granted a permit for 50-100 people to demonstrate at the U.S. Embassy on Sussex Drive on January 20, 2017, from 7 pm to 10 pm. RCMP and Ottawa Police will determine the precise parameters of the demonstration.

RCMP and local police will provide uniformed police to monitor the event. Even demonstrations intended to be peaceful can turn confrontational and escalate into violence. You should avoid areas of demonstrations, and exercise caution in the vicinity of any large gatherings, protests, or demonstrations.
