Location:  Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada

Event:  Fredericton Police said they were responding to an active shooter event in the Brookside Drive area of the city on Friday, August 10, 2018.  The public is asked to avoid the area and stay in their homes with doors locked at this time for their safety.  Please follow instructions from local authorities and monitor local media for updates.

Actions to Take:

  • Avoid Brookside Drive and surrounding areas.
  • Stay alert in public places, including schools, hospitals, churches, tourist locations, and transportation hubs.
  • Review travel routes and times to reduce time and place predictability.
  • Keep a low profile.
  • Be aware of your surroundings.
  • Review your personal security plans.
  • Report social media threats to local authorities.
