Rare Military Honor for HMCS Toronto

U.S. Chief of Naval Operations Admiral Jonathan Greenert presented four Commanders of HMCS Toronto with the well-deserved U.S. Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation.

On February 20, 2015 Consul General Richard Riley was pleased to join U.S. Chief of Naval Operations Admiral Jonathan Greenert to honor HMCS Toronto with the U.S. Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation. HMCS Toronto was recognized for the significant impact it had disrupting the flow of drugs during its deployment in 2013-14. This rare honor marks only the fifth time it has been awarded to a unit outside of the U.S. military in 45 years.
