
On Tuesday October 28, a contingent of Custom and Border Protection Officers and Border Patrol Agents from the Buffalo Field, Toronto Preclearance, and Buffalo Sector Offices represented U.S. Customs and Border Protection at the Regimental Funeral for Corporal Nathan Cirillo. Thousands of military and law enforcement personnel participated in the procession from Bayfront Park to the First Ontario Centre in Hamilton, Ontario along with thousands of civilians lining the streets to pay their final respects to the local hero. Corporal Cirillo was killed in a terrorist attack while serving as honor guard on sentry duty at the Canadian National War Memorial in Ottawa, Ontario, on Wednesday, October 22, 2014. Corporal Cirillo was a reservist with the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders of Canada (Princess Louise’s) regiment in Hamilton, Ontario. He was laid to rest in his hometown of Hamilton, Ontario with full military honors in the presence of several dignitaries, family, and friends.
