Mobile Consulate in Sherbrooke

Our third Mobile Consulate event took place in Sherbrooke, where we met with key decision makers from the fields of politics, business and academia. Sherbrooke is the sixth largest municipality in Quebec, with a population of 162,163, including 40,000 students. The City’s diverse economy is centered on the clothing and textiles industries, but also on the teaching and education sectors.

Our first day in “the Queen of the Eastern Townships” began with a tour of the Société d’histoire de Sherbrooke and continued with visits to both Bishop’s University and the Université de Sherbrooke to talk about student mobility. Day two started with a meeting with Sherbrook Mayor Bernard Sévigny. Our team then attended a lunch co-hosted by the American Chamber of Commerce in Canada (AmCham), Quebec Chapter, and the Chambre de commerce de Sherbrooke. This event gave local businesses the opportunity to ask our experts questions about doing business in the United States, cross-border trade and visas.
