Embassy Presents Discussion with Tayyibah Taylor

The U.S. Embassy, in partnership with the Canadian Council of Muslim Women and Cordova Academy, will be hosting a discussion featuring Muslim issues expert Tayyibah Taylor on February 25. She will be discussing her background as well as issues facing Muslim youth and women today.

Ms. Taylor is the founding editor-in-chief and publisher of Azizah Magazine and the winner of two Folio Eddie Awards and a New America Media Award. She was also named one of the 500 Most Influential Muslims in the World by the Middle Eastern think tank The Royal Islamic Strategic Studies. Ms. Taylor was featured in Huffington Post as one of the Ten American Muslim Women You Should Know.

Ms. Taylor, through Azizah, realizes her vision to provide a vehicle for the voice of Muslim American women — a vehicle that portrays their perspectives and experiences, and shatters commonly held stereotypes. Ms. Taylor blends her passion for spirituality, women’s issues, and communication to further the causes of Muslim women.

Taylor has appeared on CNN and other news media to comment on current affairs and she has visited 37 countries spanning six continents. She has presented lectures on Islam and Muslim women at national and international conferences and has also worked on several interfaith initiatives.

While in Canada, Taylor will be participating in a number of activities in Ottawa, Toronto and Vancouver.
