Embassy Hosts Energy Policy Discussion

Peter Taylor, Canadian Foreign Affairs (DFATD) Policy Advisor; Mario Rodriguez-Montero, Head of Trade and Investment at the Embassy of Mexico in Canada; Stephen Blank; Neal Burnham, DFATD Deputy Director.

On January 30, 2014, the Embassy hosted Professor Stephen Blank who discussed “North American Collaboration on Emerging Policy Issues” to an audience made up of U.S., Canadian and Mexican diplomats. Blank made the case that, 20 years after NAFTA, we need new models of collaboration in North America based on finding solutions to common problems — including environment, energy, and demographic shifts — that go beyond trade agreements. Blank, a Senior Fellow at the Center for North American Studies at American University in Washington D.C. and a Senior Fellow at the Macdonald-Laurier Institute in Ottawa, has written a short article on the same topic that you can find at worldpolicy.org.
