On January 30, 2014, the Embassy hosted Professor Stephen Blank who discussed “North American Collaboration on Emerging Policy Issues” to an audience made up of U.S., Canadian and Mexican diplomats. Blank made the case that, 20 years after NAFTA, we need new models of collaboration in North America based on finding solutions to common problems — including environment, energy, and demographic shifts — that go beyond trade agreements. Blank, a Senior Fellow at the Center for North American Studies at American University in Washington D.C. and a Senior Fellow at the Macdonald-Laurier Institute in Ottawa, has written a short article on the same topic that you can find at worldpolicy.org.
