U.S. Consulate Winnipeg is proud to support the Manitoba Museum’s exhibit National Geographic Presents: Earth Explorers with a $15,000 grant from the U.S. Embassy’s Small Grants Program.
The exhibit will run from October 3, 2015 to April 24, 2016. The exhibit highlights earth’s spectacular eco-zones – polar regions, oceans, rain forests, mountains and caves, and the African savannah – and brings the unparalleled adventures of National Geographic to life. National Geographic has a worldwide reputation for the quality of their work, and the Consulate is pleased to assist in bringing this important exhibit to Manitoba audiences.
The exhibit also ties in with the U.S. Department of State’s “Our Ocean” initiative (http://www.state.gov/e/oes/ocns/opa/2014conf/index.htm), which brings experts from around the world to gather lessons learned, share the best science, offer unique perspectives, and demonstrate effective actions toward developing a unified global ocean policy. National Geographic Presents: Earth Explorers brings together similar themes for the general public, in particular children, to introduce them to the concept of global warming and how it may impact the earth’s ecosystems. An online educator’s guide will also be available to teachers.
