Congressman Bill Owens organized a terrific event in Plattsburgh, NY, highlighting U.S.-Canada trade. Local businesses Derringer Logistics, Tulmare Manufacturing and Hill Electric, as well as Empire State Development focused on the nuts and bolts of exporting and shared their practical experiences across the U.S-Canada border. The participants also shared lessons learned and on-the-ground perspectives from local businesses and highlighted commercial opportunities for increasing supply chain activity and trade to stimulate local economic development.
The panel was followed by a discussion on economic relations between Congressman Owens and Consul General Nina Maria Fite. In her remarks, Consul General Fite reaffirmed the United States’ commitment to work with partners on both sides of the border to promote trade and investment. She also addressed the audience about the services offered by the U.S. mission in Canada to U.S. companies interested in doing business north of the border.
