Demonstration Alert – U. S. Consulate General Quebec City, Canada

Event: From June 7th -June 9th, activist groups are planning to protest the G7 Leaders meeting in Quebec City. Police plan a heightened security level, and transportation disruptions are expected in the vicinity of the demonstrations.
Location: Announced gathering points include, but are not limited to, the following neighborhoods in Quebec City and La Malbaie, Quebec, Canada:
- La Malbaie, Charlevoix
- The Parc des Braves, Quebec City
- The Fontaine Tourny (in front of the National Assembly of Quebec), Quebec City
- Bertherlot Parc (beside the Delta Hotel), Quebec City
- Librairie St-Jean-Baptiste (565 rue St-Jean), Quebec City
JUNE 7: 18:00-21:00 hours
Location: Parc des Braves (750 Sainte-Foy Road) and marching to the Congress Centre (G7 International Media Centre), passing the Hotel Concorde on Grande Allée.
JUNE 8: 07:30 hours
Location: Corner of Francois-de Laval and Sainte-Anne Boulevards, planning to protest along the route to La Malbaie.
JUNE 8: 11:00 hours
Location: Bertherlot Parc (beside the Delta Hotel).
JUNE 8: 19:00-22:00 hours
Location: Librairie St-Jean-Baptiste (565 rue St-Jean).
JUNE 9: 12:00-17:00 hours
Location: La Malbaie.
JUNE 9: 12:00-19:30 hours
Location: Fontaine Tourny in front of the National Assembly.
The Consulate expects that other demonstrations may occur on short notice during this time period.
U.S. government personnel have been advised to avoid demonstrations and large gatherings such as those listed above.
Actions to Take:
- Avoid the areas of the demonstrations.
- Exercise caution if unexpectedly in the vicinity of large gatherings or protests.
- Monitor local media for updates.
- Keep a low profile.
