The Consulate was delighted to co-host a commemoration event for the 70th anniversary of D-Day at the Régiment de Maisonneuve. Three speakers represented the different landings at Utah, Omaha, Juno, Gold and Sword beaches: Colonel Creg Paulk of the United States Senior Defense Attaché System to Canada, Major Mathieu Lebrun of the Royal Highland Regiment of Canada and British Consul-General Patrick Holdich. Stéphane Roussel, professor at the École nationale d’administration publique (ÉNAP) and honorary member of the Régiment was the moderator. Both Consuls General Andrew Parker and Patrick Holdich received the title of Honorary Member of the Régiment de Maisonneuve and Colonel Paulk received a commemorative coin embossed with the regimental crest from Lieutenant Colonel Stéphane Tremblay during the event, which was followed by a vin d’honneur for all participants.
Colonel Paulk noted in his remarks “the military cooperation between our countries carries strongly on today. We share the same core values both as a society and a military which serves as a great foundation from which to build military relationships as well as others.” The Consulate would like to thank our host, the Régiment de Maisoneuve, media partner 45e Nord, panelists, and guests for supporting this successful event.
