Consul General Juan Alsace gave remarks at the opening night reception of the Sarah and Chaim Neuberger Holocaust Education Centre’s 35th annual Holocaust Education Week. The Neuberger Holocaust Education Week program is recognized as one of the most comprehensive educational vehicles for learning and teaching about the Holocaust in the world educating over 300,000 people in their programming. Consul General also attended the opening event which included the address of keynote speaker David Eisenhower on Victory in Europe: Commemorating 70 Years of Liberation. This opening event held at Adath Israel Synagogue was attended by an audience of over 1200 participants and many members of the diplomatic corps in Toronto. Toronto PAS is not only funding American speaker David Eisenhower, but also seven other speakers — Menachem Z. Rosensaft, Marianne Szegdy-Maszák, Atina Grossman, Allan Chernoff, Steven Jacobs, Matthew Rozell, and Lauren Granite. The center has chosen this year’s theme for Holocaust Education Week as Liberation: Aftermath and Rebirth and will organize 115 public education programs in venues across the GTHA, 35 closed school programs, and 10 remote programs in regional communities outside of Toronto.
