On October 21st, 2015, the Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Consulate General in Toronto organized a roundtable entitled i>Advancement of International Exchange attended by 18 representatives of Ontario’s universities and colleges and the Government of Ontario. Representatives from nine of the 23 universities in Ontario (including Brock, Queen’s, Ryerson, Western, Toronto, McMaster, Wilfred Laurier, and Guelph) and four participants from Ontario’s 24 colleges (Niagara, Canadore, Humber, and the Ontario Institute of Technology) attended the event. After brief remarks, Consul General Alsace led the discussion focused on student mobility, the development of two-way student exchanges between post-secondary institutions in Ontario and the United States, and President Obama’s100,000 Strong in the Americas initiative. During the discussion, both universities and colleges were exceedingly interested in the U.S. Consulate General in Toronto’s assistance in developing programs and partnerships with American institutions in order to advance bi-lateral academic exchanges.
