During the month of November the U.S. Consulate in Calgary honors the men and women in uniform, over the generations, who have served the United States and Canada with distinction. They are heroes who put their lives on the line so that the rest of us might live in a world that is safer, freer, and more just. This is the gift they’ve given us and we will never forget the profound sacrifices that have been made in the name of our countries.
Troops wear the uniform for a time, yet they wear another proud title, the title of “veteran,” for the rest of their lives. This year, as we mark the 100th anniversary of the First World War and the 70th Anniversary of D-Day, we pay special tribute to all those who fought. We thank all American and Canadian veterans and those currently serving. We honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice; your memory will live on as we live freely each and every day.
