Celebrations on board the USS OAK HILL

On the occasion of the U.S. Independence Day and Quebec’s Rendez-Vous Naval, Commander Bryan Carmichael and Consul General Hale VanKoughnett hosted a reception on board the USS OAK HILL (LSD 51). Two hundred guests from a wide variety of fields attended the event. Dignitaries included members of the clergy, consuls general, leaders of First Nations, and military officials from various countries.

Guests, crew members, and consulate staff alike enjoyed the evening, which commenced with the National Anthem sung a capella by Douglas Renfroe. Consul General VanKoughnett warmly welcomed the attendees as he presented remarks in both French and English. He was followed by François Moreau, President of the Rendez-Vous Naval.

The USS OAK HILL (LSD 51) was commissioned on June 8, 1996, and has a united mission with the United States Marine Corps in amphibious operations.
