As part of our Black History Month outreach activities, two U.S. diplomats addressed audiences of cegep students on a variety of topics, including the economic challenges, the opportunities and the social justice issues faced by minorities in America.
The Consulate’s Political and Economic Officer Andrew Zvirzdin engaged in a conversation with students at Dawson College on ongoing initiatives to protect the rights of minorities and help them overcome past prejudice and make the American dream equally reachable to them. Michael Lawson, U.S. Ambassador to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) meanwhile, gave an inspiring speech to the students at Marianopolis College about his career as a lawyer and the changes he witnessed in American society.
