U.S. Ambassador to Canada Bruce A. Heyman today released the following statement:
“I am pleased to welcome members of the U.S. delegation to Ottawa this week for semi-annual meetings of the International Joint Commission (IJC). The IJC was created by the Canada-U.S. Boundary Waters Treaty of 1909 and provides governments with expert advice on the management of our shared waters.
“The long and productive history of the IJC reflects the strength and continuity of Canadian and American stewardship of our shared natural resources. The IJC is a prime example of how closely our two countries cooperate on these opportunities. I look forward to participating in bilateral discussions on how we can continue to enhance the management and protection of our waterways.”
