Ambassador Bruce Heyman welcomed Iowa governor Terry Branstad and a delegation of 41 representatives from 20 Illinois companies to Montreal for the 12th annual World Congress on Industrial Biotechnology. In addition to discussing the ongoing business development of the bio-based economy with U.S. and Canadian participants, Ambassador Heyman also met with local business and political influencers, and took a trip down memory lane with a visit to the Biosphere on Île Sainte-Hélène. This was his first time returning to the iconic Montreal landmark, designed by American visionary Buckminster Fuller as the U.S. pavilion during Expo67, since his first trip to Canada in 1967. The trip also provided an opportunity to meet with journalists from L’Actualité and Les Affaires.
