Ambassador Heyman Attends Symposium Featuring Leslie Hewitt

Leslie Hewitt in Toronto

On May 1st, Ambassador Heyman and Mrs. Vicki Heyman attended a symposium featuring New York-based artist, Leslie Hewitt. Held at the Harbourfront Center in Toronto and programmed by The Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery, this one-day symposium gathered artists, curators and writers who presented theoretical and practice-led perspectives on the topic of “still and moving imagery.” This event marked the closing of the U.S. Mission supported “Collective Stance” exhibition by Leslie Hewitt which featured her collaboration with renowned cinematographer Bradford Young, who also presented at the symposium. The exhibition, which opened in January 2016, included new works and a selection of pieces from Hewitt’s individual practice, informed by her collaboration with Young and invited viewers to experience the relationship between photography and sculpture.
