A message from U.S. Ambassador to Canada Kelly Craft
on the occasion of Canada Day 2018

“In the summer of 1933, President Franklin D. Roosevelt was on vacation in one of his favorite places on earth, Campobello Island in New Brunswick. He famously said:”The reception here is probably the finest example of friendship between nations – permanent friendship between nations – that we can possibly have.”

Here we are 85 years later, and I could not agree more with FDR. On this the 151st anniversary of your Confederation, Joe and I wish all Canadians a very happy Canada Day. The friendship between our two great countries is inescapable, even in the tough times.

We in the United States are truly blessed to have Canada as our neighbor, friend and partner. The unparalleled bonds between our people are as resilient as they are long-standing. We are honored to celebrate Canada Day with you.
